Isamu Yoshii is well known as a poet in Meiji era, who loved Gion very much.
He wrote "Kanikakuni Gion wa Koishi Nerutokimo Makura no Shita no Mizu no
Nagaruru", translated "I always think of Gion, even if while I'm sleeping.
It feels like as if the Shirakawa river is flowing under my pillow."
The monument inscribed with this poem is located near our Ryokan, which is located by the Shirakawa river in Gion Shinbashi area.
Gion reminds people of old beautiful days of Kyoto. Please enjoy this graceful atmosphere at "Ryokan Gion Shinmonso"
